Juicy Tomatoes and Summer Vibes: Designing New Merch for the Virginia Highland Farmers Market

Nothing says summer quite like the taste of a fresh, local tomato. When the opportunity came up to create new merchandise designs for the Virginia Highland Farmers Market, I knew instantly what needed to take center stage.

From initial inspiration to rough sketches and finally to approved artwork, this project was a total dream to bring to life.

From Inspo to Final Artwork

The goal was simple: capture the bright, welcoming energy of a local market in a design people would actually want to wear and carry around.

The design process started with diving headfirst into summer vibes with rich colors, natural textures, and classic produce icons. I spent time sketching out ideas, tweaking line weights, and testing color palettes until those tomatoes looked just right. Seeing the artwork move from raw pencil concepts to polished, approved designs ready for production was incredibly satisfying.

Why Supporting Local Matters

Projects like this hit home because local farmers markets are the heartbeat of our communities. They connect us directly to regional growers, creators, and neighbors.

When you buy merch from the Virginia Highland Farmers Market, you are not just getting a cool shirt or tote bag. You are wearing your support for small scale agriculture, local vendors, and sustainable food systems.

Grab Your Market Gear

Whether you are picking up fresh peaches, strawberries, peppers, or tomatoes on a sunny weekend morning, you can now rep your market pride in style.

The new merch is officially live! Head over to the Virginia Highland Farmers Market to grab your favorite pieces, and remember: shop local, eat fresh, and support your neighborhood farmers market.
